MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) — Excitement is building among local Green Bay Packers fans ahead of the team’s first playoff game on Saturday, January 16 against the Los Angeles Rams.
On Friday, January 15, fans flocked to the Green and Gold Zone in West Allis to pick up last minute gear.
“I’m feeling pretty excited, the Rams got us last time,” Packers fan David Kline said. “I think it’s payback time.”
Charlie Betker stopped by the shop to pick up a new Packers hat.
“They got the momentum and I think if they play a decent ball game like they played two weeks ago and don’t have injuries, they got a real good chance of winning it,” he said
Many fans are looking ahead not only to Saturday, but to the rest of playoffs.
“I hope they win, I hope they go to the Super Bowl,” Shirley Wood said.
Green and Gold Zone owner and operator Andrew Hundt said they took a hit due to the pandemic, but sales have been up since December. He is just as excited as his customers about the team’s playoff bid.
“There was some skepticism about last year, where there is none this year. This is a great team,” he said. “I mean anybody could win any given Sunday, but with what we look like, no one can stop us.”
Kickoff is scheduled for 3:35 p.m. at Lambeau Field.
