Ike Wynter Turns Top Chef set into Art at Milwaukee Public Museum
MILWAUKEE, WI (CBS 58) -- Your favorite Milwaukee eco-sustainable wood artist has done it again. You may remember Ike Wynter from stories CBS 58 has done with him in the past.
You may remember Ike Wynter from past CBS 58 stories— one on his viral pop culture artwork, and another when he crafted all 32 NFL team logos from reclaimed wood for the NFL Draft in Green Bay. Now, thanks to a new challenge from Visit Milwaukee, he's back with a piece that celebrates the city's flavor, literally.
On Thursday May 29th, Wynter unveiled his latest work titled 'Fresh. Flavor. Forward.' at the Milwaukee Public Market.
This piece was created using wood salvaged from the set of Top Chef: Wisconsin, turning culinary television history into a one-of-a-kind tribute to the city's developing food scene.
"With all my work I do not stain or paint or alter the wood in any form. So, as you see, like the red and white on here is from the Top Chef set exactly how it was. So, this was actually the E that spelled out Milwaukee and then with Visit Milwaukee's debut of their new logo last year we decided to highlight Visit Milwaukee here in the Public Market because they are such a staple here in the community," said Wynter.
All the wood is from the side of the road and the Top Chef set in Milwaukee, Wynter explained.
"I love this city. I'm honored to repurpose wood from this city and represent it and representing it here at the Public Market is pretty much a dream come true as a kid who grew up coming here since. It's quite an honor to have art here for the first time," said Wynter.
In addition to unveiling the new artwork, Wynter brought some of his more viral pieces along to the market. You can see his latest creation at the Market in the stairway around the elevator.
