I-94 East Zipper Merge Comes to an End Tomorrow

As part of the Zoo Interchange Project, the long term lane closure along I-94 eastbound is scheduled to reopen ahead of the Tuesday morning commute.  This comes just in time before one of the busiest travel days of the year.

There will be several new changes in place along this route once the Zipper Merge is lifted. The decision point for Hwy 100 from I-94 Eastbound will move back to its original location back to the east. The decision point for the new I-94 east to I-41/894 south system ramp at the Zoo will be moved back nearly a mile.  Finally, the Hwy 100 entrance ramp will be open to I-41/894 southbound only. Drivers should use either Bluemound or Greenfield Ave. as an alternate.

As with most traffic changes, it will take drivers several days to get used to the new patterns so plan ahead for both the morning and evening commute.
