Hunger Task Force helps seniors with Badger Boxes and vouchers to use at Farmers' Markets
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- From 8 a.m. until noon on Thursday, Sept. 8, the Hunger Task Force (HTF) is giving out Farmer's Market vouchers to senior citizens.
It's prime Farmers' Market season in Milwaukee right now, and the HTF wants to make sure people are able to take advantage of the vouchers. All qualifying seniors will get a packet of vouchers worth $25 dollars.
People don't even need to get out of their car, employees will bring the vouchers right up to them. Everyone who stops by the Hunger Task Force today will also get a Badger Box. The boxes are filled with Wisconsin-made staple foods like bacon, cheese, eggs, milk and a lot more.
Cars lined up around the building right at 8 a.m. to get their hands on the free food. To qualify, seniors need to live in Milwaukee County and be income eligible.
No questions will be asked other than showing an ID. If you can't make it to pick up a voucher, a family member or friend can bring your ID to pick up a box for you.
If you aren't able to make today's event, you can still sign up to have the vouchers mailed to you.
