Hundreds of art lovers gathered for 11th annual Third Ward Art Festival

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Despite the heat, Milwaukee art lovers gathered for the 11th annual Third Ward Art Festival on Saturday, Sept. 2, and Sunday, Sept. 3.

Hundreds came out for a showcase of artwork from more than 150 artists from around the country. All in different mediums, including painting, sculptures, jewelry, and more.

Artists we spoke to say having people see and comment on their art in person can be a validating and exciting experience.

"The turnout out here has been great. It was great to see some familiar faces and even though it's super-hot out, it's been great to see Milwaukee show up for artists here," said Emma Jones, an artist from the event.

Event organizers are making an effort to keep things local this year. All proceeds from beer and wine sales go to benefit non-profit Historic Third Ward Association and Downtown Milwaukee Dog Park.
