WAUKESHA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Hundreds of beekeepers from across the country gathered on Saturday, Jan. 25 for the inaugural Midwest HoneyBee Expo.
The event took place at the Waukesha Expo Center.
Over 40 vendors were stationed at the expo, with all of the newest equipment in the beekeeping field.
Activities also included speakers from all across North America, giving their best advice and practices when it comes to beekeeping, mainly focusing on the best ways to keep your bees happy and healthy in harsh weather conditions.
"I don't think there's a single beekeeper out there that knows everything about the honeybee, we all kind of specialize in our own areas and things, so there's always education and learning and advancement in your abilities and skills with beekeeping, so it's a fascinating hobby," said Doug Koltermann, co-creator of the Midwest HoneyBee Expo.
The expo will continue tomorrow and will include the results of the "Honey Show," a contest in which beekeepers bring in their best harvested honey that will be evaluated by a pair of judges, with awards given out to the winners.
