How Waukesha authorities captured a wanted fugitive

TOWN OF VERNON A K-9 Officer and Waukesha County Deputy moved in to arrest an Illinois man wanted for a parole violation.

Donald Berry has family in Waukesha County. Earlier, an officer had tried to detain him after seeing him along I-43 in New Berlin, but Berry apparently ran away.

Just about 24 hours after law enforcement issued a public alert, he was found hiding in a child's sand box in the Town of Vernon.

Sources tell CBS 58's Carlos Vergara that he had been in Vernon for several days.

CBS 58 has obtained a photo of a nearby resident who was there when the fugitive was taken into custody.

The 43 year old Berry has a history of violent crimes.

\"It's a little unnerving,\" resident Penny Flatter told CBS 58 News. \"It's not a usual occurrence around here which is a good thing.\"
