MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee firefighters responded to a house fire early Monday, Dec. 8 near 27th and Juneau, according to the Milwaukee Fire Department.
Crews were dispatched at 1:13 a.m. and found heavy fire on the second floor of a two-and-a-half-story home, officials said. Fire conditions were so severe that crews fought the fire from outside. The first building was brought under control at approximately 2:37 a.m.
The fire spread to a duplex next door, which firefighters entered to start an interior attack and search and rescue operations. The second building was placed under control within 30 minutes, according to the fire department.
One family was displaced, and the Red Cross was contacted to assist. The family evacuated on their own and no one was injured.
The fire investigative unit and Milwaukee police are investigating the cause.
