House fire in Wauwatosa results in dog's death

WAUWATOSA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A fire had smoke visibly emanating from a Wauwatosa residence near 73rd and Portland Ave. on Tuesday, Feb. 6, leading to the death of a dog. The Wauwatosa, West Allis and Milwaukee Fire Departments responded to the emergency after a neighbor called 911.

Fire units were dispatched at 10:17 a.m., with the Wauwatosa Fire Department noting that crews from the involved fire departments entered the home, managing to bring the fire under control quickly.

WFD has confirmed that no individuals were harmed during the incident, as the home was unoccupied at the time of the fire. The loss was solely that of a pet dog.

The Milwaukee Fire Department Fire Investigation Unit has taken up the task of determining the cause of the fire.
