MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A Stevens Point man is gearing up for another long journey. Dan Winkelman, 69, is an eight-year pancreatic cancer survivor.
He is now getting ready to ride his motorcycle from Elgin, Illinois all the way to Anchorage, Alaska.
Winkelman won't be alone, his son and Iowa-based YouTuber, "Fuzzy Biker," among others will be going with.
It's a 3,800-mile ride raising awareness and money for pancreatic cancer.
He says this ride is a big thing for him as a survivor and will ride for those going through treatment and afraid of the outcomes.
"We're going all the way because we want to see $1.2 million come in to fund that clinical trial that's going to make it possible for somebody else to hold their grandson. To love their families. We can come together on that," Winkelman said.
Winkelman and his team plan to take off next week.
