Medical College of Wisconsin holds groundbreaking ceremony for new on-campus housing

WAUWATOSA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) held a groundbreaking ceremony Tuesday, for new on-campus housing.

This is the first on-campus housing complex at MCW, which will give students a more affordable housing option. It's a huge milestone for the college and reaffirms the school's commitment to providing a safe space for future healthcare professionals. 

 "It truly signifies our investment in our learners, all of our learners, who will shape the future of healthcare," said President and CEO Shekar Kurpad. "We are the training ground for tomorrow's researchers, tomorrow's pharmacists, tomorrow's physicians, and that's who we're here to celebrate."

The complex will have four stories holding nearly 300 units, as well as gathering spaces and underground parking. 

It's expected to open in spring of 2028.
