MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Local high school students are competing by showing off their building and construction skills.
The NARI Milwaukee Foundation is holding a greenhouse building challenge that involves students from eight area schools.
Building a greenhouse is a months-long process, and on Wednesday, Jan. 22, we got to see how students at Oak Creek High School were doing.
Students and staff say competitions like this are a great way to push their skills and further explore a career in trades.
"I like just trying new things and building new stuff, I like learning how to build because now around my house I can help out," said Oak Creek student Mia Piepenbrink.
"To be able to give them something that could inspire them for their career, or something they'll use at home in life, it's exciting to see all the work being done," said Tim Gies, president of NARI Milwaukee.
