GREENFIELD, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A Greenfield police officer sustained injuries during a traffic stop at the Rodeway Inn and Suites in Milwaukee, after a 21-year-old male driver reportedly became physically resistant.

According to a press release from the Greenfield Police Department, the suspect claimed to possess a firearm, threatened officers and fled on foot.

Following a tip from a hotel employee, Greenfield officers reportedly engaged in a foot pursuit, during which two officers, aged 23 and 29, discharged their firearms. The suspect, a Milwaukee resident, was struck multiple times but is expected to survive.

He was transported to the hospital by the Milwaukee Fire Department, while the injured officer was treated and released.

The Milwaukee Area Investigative Team will be investigating the incident, with the Oak Creek Police Department serving as the lead agency. All body and squad camera footage will be turned over to them.

The involved officers have been placed on administrative leave pending investigation.

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A heavy emergency response presence near 27th and Bottsford Ave. in Greenfield has left at least one person transported to the hospital.

Responding officials from the Milwaukee Police Department, the Milwaukee Fire Department, Milwaukee County Sherrif's Office and other responders have been a part of the scene that followed a reported shooting.

The Milwaukee Fire Department confirmed to CBS 58 that a patient was taken to Froedtert with a gunshot wound to the leg.
