MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Less than two weeks until the midterm, heavy-hitting surrogates are flooding Wisconsin to highlight what's at stake this election.

On Friday, Sen. Ron Johnson kicked off his 10-day statewide bus tour by welcoming the chairs of two major Republican groups, RNC chair Ronna McDaniel and Senate GOP campaign chair Rick Scott.

"We have 11 days until victory and notice the Democrats are not talking about what they've done to make our lives better," McDaniel said. "We have inflation, high gas prices, crime and fentanyl and our kids are still suffering from the lockdowns."

With President Joe Biden's approval rating in the low 40s amid inflation, Republicans are hoping to have an edge as Democrats try to combat economic uncertainty.

"Inflation is crushing everybody specially those on low-income. The very same people Democrats report to represent," Johnson said.

Also, on Friday, U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg campaigned on behalf of Johnson's Democratic challenger Lt. Gov Mandela Barnes who's slightly behind in the polls.

"There's a reason people all over the country are watching Wisconsin to see what's going to happen in this state that's been the tipping point again and again because it is so close," Buttigieg said.

"Everyone who might vote, votes -- we're going to have a lot of celebrate a week from Wednesday," Buttigieg said.

These visits, including former President Barack Obama's trip to Milwaukee Saturday, indicates how this election will come down to turnout as most voters are locked in one party or the other.

"We're all paying attention, but not everybody does they are busy, struggling and suffering and you need to go talk to them and say we can make it better because Republicans have a plan," McDaniel said.

Earlier this week Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) and Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin (R) both held rallies on Wednesday in Wisconsin.
