Heat Builds For The Weekend

After a cool day yesterday with a high temperature of just seventy degrees in Milwaukee, we are once again bracing for building heat and humidity this weekend.  The average high temperature on today's date is seventy-eight degrees. And we'll be pretty close to that today, with plenty of sun and just a light lake breeze. As we progress through this weekend, we'll be feeling the eighties and possibly around ninety by Sunday. We've already met the average of three days of 90s in June for Milwaukee, and overall the month is running 3.4 degrees above normal.

Here's the monthly breakdown of high temps so far:

60s 3
70s 12
80s 6
90s 3

Saturday will start sunny. Winds will blow in from a southerly direction, possibly turning southeast along the lake. It will be a welcome breeze as temperatures heat into the 80s with dew points in the middle 60s. By Sunday, temps approach ninety degrees with dew points near seventy degrees. Check it out:

But there's something else cooking for this weekend, and that's the chance for storms by Saturday night.

Here's a look around 11PM Saturday night. We'll be on the look out for scattered showers and storms to continue overnight. While widespread severe weather is unlikely, there could be a few stronger storms with gusty wind, hail and a good downpour. Most of the activity winds down by daybreak on Sunday. Get ready for clearing and a west wind by noon on Sunday. That will give most locations a chance to spike into the upper 80s to around ninety degrees.
