MERTON, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A Hartland man accused in a hit-and-run that seriously injured a husband and wife in the Village of Merton Tuesday night, Dec. 2, is now charged.

Thirty-three-year-old Christopher Wood faces two counts of hit-and-run causing great bodily harm.

According to a criminal complaint, deputies obtained video from a nearby business that shows a car hit the couple as they crossed Main Street, despite the woman waving her arms and trying to get the driver's attention. The video reportedly shows the vehicle slow down afterwards but continue to travel northbound without stopping.

Deputies later found the blue car damaged in the driveway of a home. The complaint says a woman came out of the house and told a deputy, "Yes, it was my husband."

Investigators also watched video from a Kwik Trip that reportedly shows Wood stumbling, nearly knocking over a shelf, and buying beer four minutes before the crash.

Court records show Wood is currently out of custody after posting a $7,500 cash bond.

He's due back in court next week.
