HALES CORNERS, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A Hales Corners family is still searching for a new place to live, but also receiving support, nearly three weeks after they lost everything in a fire.
The fire broke out June 4 at the Plum Tree apartment complex in Hales Corners. Everyone survived.
The family is staying in a hotel while they look for a more permanent space.
The couple are Milwaukee school teachers with two children who lived in the apartment complex for three years.
They say the fire was an ordeal they'll never forget.
"I was just panicking pretty much, what do you do in that situation? You have no idea what to do. I kind of just sat down for a while and it started to really hit me when it got bigger, that's when I really started like crying and freaking out because I was like oh my God, all of our things. I just felt so bad for my family because I know how hard they work to buy all of these things and they pretty much lost it in an instant," said Juliet Perez.
The family has a gofundme account and they're thankful to their friends and family who have helped them out.
The Hales Corners Police Department is investigating the cause of the fire.
