FRANKLIN, Wis. (CBS 58) -- It's no secret that well-behaved animals can help humans in a lot of ways, but physically and mentally. You've seen therapy dogs, maybe you've even had contact with them, but have you eve4r been visited by therapy horses?
On Tuesday, July 15, miniature horses were brought to the Franklin Place Memory Care Center to visit the seniors there.
The horses are smaller than typical ponies, and they're very gentle and friendly.
The staff at Franklin Place say animals bring joy and comfort and can reduce the effects of dementia. From what we could see, that's exactly what happened!

"I just like to see the smiles on our residents' face when the horses come," said Tiffany McClain, activity director. "We have some residents that are non-verbal, so we know when the horses come, it puts a smile on their face. We know we are doing our job, and they enjoy it, too."
