WAUKESHA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A dream came true for a group of kids in Waukesha Tuesday.
Twenty-five children from SHARP Literacy's educational program at La Casa de Esperanza elementary school each received $150 to spend at Kohl's as part of the fifth annual "Holiday Happiness" shopping spree.
These kids are between 5 and 10 years old. They've worked hard and are now being rewarded for their efforts.
SHARP Literacy President and CEO Lynda Welsh says the kids use their gift cards in ways you might not expect.
"It warms my heart because so many of them, you know, they get things for themselves but so many of them also get things for their mom and their grandma and dad, and sisters and brothers," Welsh said. "So, a very, very kind group of kids."
The gift cards were provided by Quad.
