Grafton Music Teacher Reinstated At Woodview Elementary

At a special called meeting on Wednesday morning, the Grafton School Board president announced that Bob Morande would be reinstated in his role as a music teacher at Woodview Elementary School.

"We really do apologize for how long this took," said Board President Terry Ziegler.

Morande was put on paid leave after two separate disciplinary incidents with students.

"It's been hard. It's been really, really hard," said Morande. "I know it's been hard on everybody."

While he won't return for the 2016-17 school year, Morande will finish out the rest of the year at Woodview. The decision to retire was his own.

Ziegler said a lot of red tape prevented Morande from coming back to school sooner. Tom Andres, interim superintendent, says the district is looking forward to putting this incident behind them.

"It's fantastic to get Bob back in the classroom," Andres said. "What its done is taken a lot of attention off what we're really about in terms of student learning."

Morande is also anxious to move forward -- and that he has no hard feelings about the school district.

"If you go around holding grudges, you're going to get weighed down a whole lot," he said. "I'm there for my kids, that's what this was about all the way along. That's going to be my focus. They're going to get everything I've got for the last three and a half weeks of school."
