Gov. Evers approves I-43 improvements in Milwaukee and Waukesha counties

MADISON, Wis. (CBS 58) --- Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers signed a $1.1 million contract to improve multiple bridges along I-43 in Milwaukee and Waukesha counties on Tuesday, May 4.

The bridges are along I-43 between WIS 83 and Beloit Road in Waukesha County, as well as the 124th and 116th street bridges in Milwaukee County.

Officials say work will begin the week of May 10. Construction is scheduled to be complete in the fall.

Officials say I-43 will remain open to traffic during construction, however, off peak single-lane closures and on and off ramp closures will be needed to complete the work. There will also be full overnight closures of 124th and 116th street bridges at separate times for two nights each. A short-term, full closure and detour of County Y and Racine Avenue will also be needed for structure work.
