Gordon not distracted by record and Heisman talk

Another Wisconsin Badger running back now has his name in the college football record books.

Kenosha native Melvin Gordon joined former elite Wisconsin backs Montee Ball and Ron Dayne last Saturday by breaking an NCAA record.

Gordon diced up Nebraska's defense with 408 yards on the ground, and now holds the record for most rushing yards in a game.

The performance puts him right in the middle of the Heisman conversation, that's the award that goes to the nation's best college football player.

Gordon says the extra attention has been fun, but he's not losing focus.

“We have to win out. That's the mindset, that's how it needs to be and that's how it's going to be. So I can't get complacent, you know, you run for that much you can't say you know I'm relaxing now, I did what I need to do. What we need to do is not done yet, we still got a lot more to accomplish.” Gordon said Monday.

The last Badger to win the Heisman was Ron Dayne back in 1999, the same year LaDainian Tomlinson set the old NCAA single game rushing record at 406 yards.
