Goodwill stores no longer accepting furniture donations

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Goodwill Industries is no longer accepting furniture or large exercise equipment.

According to goodwill.com, effective Nov. 1, they no longer accept furniture that includes:

  • Chairs, stools, or couches
  • Mattresses and bed frames
  • Desks or other office furniture
  • Tables of any kind
  • Dressers, bookcases, entertainment centers, etc.
  • Large exercise equipment

Beginning Dec. 1, these items will no longer be available to purchase.

Goodwill still accepts gently used items that include clothing, books, games, jewelry, vehicles, electronics, tools, and more.

Meantime, if you have unused furniture you'd like to donate, Habitat ReStore is accepting furniture at all three of their Milwaukee County locations and even offers a free donation pickup service. Much like Goodwill, ReStore resells these items to the public at a fraction of retail cost.
