WEST MILWAUKEE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- We all have a festive Mexican spirit this weekend for Cinco de Mayo on Sunday. It celebrates the victory Mexico had over the French empire during the 1860s.
It also is an opportunity to observe Latino culture via festive food and drink. One favorite for many of us is guacamole, made up of avocados. The experts say handling and choosing this fruit properly can make the difference between a good and great guac experience.
Make sure to add lime to guacamole, so it can keep longer, typically two days in the fridge. The folks at Qdoba in West Milwaukee also recommend serving nachos for the big occasion. And if you do, consider keeping all the toppings separate and just baking the chips by themselves.
