MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Girls Rock Milwaukee has been awarded a grant from the Wisconsin Arts Board to support its "A Rebel Sound" workshop series, which gives young people hands-on experience in music creation and production.
Mary Joy Hickey, Promise Bruce, and Michaela McLaughlin joined us on Tuesday, Oct. 14 to talk about it.
The series includes a studio recording workshop on Sunday, Oct. 19 at Tymeless Studios from noon to 4 p.m. It is open to kids ages 12 to 18.
According to Girls Rock MKE, the program's aim is to empower underrepresented groups through accessible, inclusive arts education. A showcase reception will conclude the series on Sunday, Nov. 2 at a location to be announced.
