Girl Scouts Celebrate 100 Years of Selling Cookies

WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAW) The Girls Scouts are celebrating 100 years of selling cookies. With this big anniversary, they're featuring their new cookie S'mores.

Girls Scouts is the world's leading financial literacy program for girls. It also is the world's largest girl-led business, which teaches youth about goal setting, decision making, money management and people skills.

With the past century of selling cookies, times have changes, leading the Girl Scouts to change with them. This is the second year Girl Scouts can choose to sell cookies online and reach out to more people. The girls work and communicate with customers online, giving the young girl a lot of responsibility. The platform is safe for youth because links cannot be forwarded.

One local troop is planning to take a trip across the country next year. Troop 7440 is holding a Pancake Brunch to raise money for their adventure. If you'd like to attend, head to Holy Name of Jesus Parish Church in Wausau from 9-1 p.m. on February 5.
