MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- CBS 58 got a sneak preview of some sweet construction projects over at MATC on Thursday, Dec. 5.
Students in the baking program there designed and built gingerbread houses for a competition that starts Friday at the Milwaukee Public Market.
One student baker used sugar to create a glass effect on her gingerbread house.
"I was probably the most geeked out by the science of the glass, because you're dealing with 165 degree Celsius molten sugar, so it's really scary because if you burn yourself, your brain doesn't even process how hot it is," said MATC student Nicole Masters.
You can check out the gingerbread houses at the Public Market from Friday, Dec. 6-16. You can vote for your favorites and even bid on the houses.
