Get ready for a hot weekend!

It has been a very chilly start to June with temperatures running below average. We have had six days in the 60s, four in the 70s, and only one day in the 80s. The weather pattern has been rather consistent with an easterly and northeasterly wind. This time of year, you will have temperatures cooler near the lakefront with that trend.

Finally, a flip in the weather pattern; with an upper-level ridge building and heading in our direction, we can expect the warmest air of the month. Looking ahead to the weekend, not only will humidity return, but the chance to hit 90 degrees will be there. Highs on Saturday could jump well into the 80s. By Father’s Day, the highs will skyrocket to about 90. When you incorporate the humidity, where dew points could get close to 70, heat indices will climb into the mid and upper 90s.

The toasty temps could end by early next week with the breakdown of the ridge.
