Get egg-cited for 'Egg Day!' Milwaukee County Zoo to host Easter event April 16

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Enjoy a fun-filled day of Easter activities at the Milwaukee County Zoo! Egg Day is set for April 16, featuring a scavenger hunt, egg hunt and a parade with the Easter Bunny himself!

According to a news release from the zoo, guests will be able to enjoy beautiful artistry and choose a spring face painting design to show off their Easter spirit.

At the Elephant Care Center, you'll be able to “Chalk the Zoo” and add a fancy flower to the garden path.

The day before Easter wouldn’t be complete without an Egg Hunt! Between the Caribou and Elk habitats, find the golden egg, solve the riddle, and receive a special prize. Take a break and enjoy fan-favorite characters entertaining guests through games, song, and dance at Kohl’s Wild Theater in the Northwestern Mutual Family Farm entrance area.

An Egg Day visit should include a stop at the Aquatic & Reptile Center to meet the newest addition, a female giant Pacific octopus, Chalupa. She is settling in nicely in her habitat after arriving a few months weeks ago. Keepers comment Chalupa is very good at hiding, so look closely for her, as she likes to stay near the upper right corner of the tank. Giant Pacific octopus are some of the most intelligent invertebrates – they have nine brains! They use one central brain to control their nervous system and a small brain in each arm to control movement

Be sure to share your special day for all to see by taking a photo at three special Photo HOPortunities with the Zoo as your picturesque background.

The Egg Day event at the Milwaukee County Zoo is sponsored by Racine Danish Kringles.
