Germantown Fire Capt Talks About Baby Delivery at McDonald's
A local couple delivered their baby at a Germantown McDonald's.
“You don't expect it and then you have to expect the unexpected. All of a sudden you turn around and this is real now,” Capt. Robert Asmondy said.
The first EMT on the scene recalling today's parking lot delivery just before three at the Mickey D's off County Line Road.
This was the second child for the couple so the emergency responders were impressed with how calm and prepared they were.
“The husband did a wonderful job of making a less than ideal condition ideal for the mother and the child as well,” said Asmondy.
No word yet on when the EMT might meet the baby he helped bring into the world, he knows he would like to see them all again one day.
The Zignego family released the following statement through Froedtert Hospital:
"While driving to the hospital, labor progressed quicker for Lindsey than the time it took to drive to Community Memorial Hospital. Fortunately, the Germantown Fire Department helped take care of baby Damien after Andrew, the dad, called 911 and helped Lindsay deliver the baby. They feel very blessed that everyone is healthy and doing well. They expect to go home very soon."
