Gallery night brings color and understanding of people with disabilities

A celebration of color and how all that is different can come together in a beautiful way.

The 4k Kindergarten Class from Pershing Elementary School entertained  a crowd that gathered for the annual Gallery Night and Open House in West Milwaukee.

Artwork was on display from the young students and the student at the Donna Lexa Community Art Center for adults with disabilities.

For my young students it gives them a chance to understand people who are different from them,\" explained teacher Liz Arkin,\" For the adult students, it gives them a chance to enjoy the youngsters.\"

Arkin says the students learned about color theory during the program.

She believes it's the joy that comes from acceptance that will leave a lasting impact on the students and the visitors who came to the open house.
