Gallardo strong as Brewers close out Arizona series with win

PHOENIX - A contentious yet successful four game series in Arizona ended with a 4-1 Brewers victory over the Diamondbacks Thursday afternoon in Phoenix.

Yovani Gallardo threw seven strong innings, allowing just one run, and Aramis Ramirez drove in a run and scored another one in the win. The teams were scoreless until the Brewers struck for two runs in the fifth on RBI hits from Lyle Overbay and Elian Herrera.

Francisco Rodriguez pitched a scoreless ninth for the save.

The Brewers head to Colorado to start a three game series Friday.
