MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Multiple freeway closures along the Mitchell Interchange near Layton Ave. and College Ave happened earlier Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 29. Emergency crews tended to a rollover crash involving two semi-trucks, one of them a tanker.
In the initial investigation, police found a 35-year-old man driving a semi struck a tanker, causing it to rollover. The 35-year-old fled the scene.
The tanker driver was taken to a local hospital.
The 35-year-old semi driver was located at a gas station and taken into custody for a hit-and-run an hour later.
The tanker was carrying non-flammable hazardous liquid - a glass resin. A relief tanker was sent to siphon the liquid and transport it.
Updates will be provided as more details come out.
