FRANKLIN, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Congressman Bryan Steil announced the first- and second-place winners of Wisconsin’s Congressional App Challenge on Tuesday, Nov. 26.
Franklin High School students were recognized for their innovative app designs. The first-place winner, Botanical, is an artificial intelligence-powered gardening app designed to help users care for and grow plants by providing personalized recommendations.
"This does two things: it reduces carbon footprint for individuals and also reduces waste, so people aren’t having their plants die off," said first-place winner Rishi Suryavanshi.
The app tracks plants and creates a schedule for watering and care to help users maintain healthier gardens.
The Congressional App Challenge is an annual nationwide competition that encourages students to develop software applications and engage in STEM education.
