Four taken to hospital after crash of 15 bicyclists during race around Lake Winnebago

FOND DU LAC COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Four bicyclists riding in a race were taken to the hospital after a crash in Fond du Lac County Sunday morning. The crash was reported just after 9 a.m. on Highway WH near McCabe Road during the Race the Lake which is an annual bike race around Lake Winnebago.

The crash involved a group of 15 bikers on a part of the course with a moderate downward slope. The 15 were traveling in part of a group of 50 going about 40 mph at the time of the crash. 

The four taken to the hospital all have non-life threatening injuries and others suffered cuts and scrapes.

The Sheriff's Office says two bikers hit each other and crashed causing a chain reaction.

Two of the injured were from Wisconsin while the other two were from Illinois.
