MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Nearly every seat or table inside of MECCA Sports Bar & Grill in Milwaukee's Deer District was packed on Sunday, as football fans and sports fans came to celebrate the 58th annual Super Bowl.

Many told CBS 58's Ellie Nakamoto-White that the day was "exciting" and one they look forward to all year.

"I'm a Packers fan but I just came out with my mom," said Kiandra Lewis of Milwaukee. "She's always throwing the best football parties so me and her grabbed the best spot in the house up there and we're going to eat good and just watch the game!"

This year's game brought together the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers, who last faced off in the Super Bowl in 2020.

“'I'm rooting for the Chiefs, we bet a lot of money on the games, so hopefully they can pull it out. Hoping for a good Usher halftime performance and maybe they can get the proposal for Taylor Swift at the end of the game, we’ll see what happens," said Chris Schulz, who was decked out in red.

Others like Leonardo Lopez decided to come with friends to have a good time.

"I just want to make sure he loses," Lopez said laughingly, referring to his college buddy Tony Gawel who traveled from California.

Gawel said he's been a 49ers fan for "pretty much since I've been a kid."

"Just hoping for a good game you know, watching a back-and-forth battle," Gawel said. "Hoping they win another Super Bowl!"

The gathering also marked MECCA's largest football event of the year, with customers able to purchase tickets to watch the game on their giant screen and an all-you-can-eat buffet.
