FOND DU LAC COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- It was a happy day at the Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Office Thursday as K-9 Officer Iro was introduced to the media.
Iro was shot and injured last October while on duty.
He's undergone almost a year of recovery and physical therapy, and we are happy to report that he will return to duty.
His human partner couldn't be happier.
"Fully ecstatic," said Lt. Ryan Zitlow, K-9 coordinator. "To see him come from where he was on that day, on Oct. 14, where we're even questioning whether or not he was even gonna make it, to this point, of - on this date, of Sept. 5, coming back to duty."
Lieutenant Zitlow says Iro still has more therapy ahead, but he's completed his certification and he's ready to get back on the roads.
