Flight diverted to Milwaukee for mechanical issues

A Southwest Airlines flight out of Chicago was diverted to Milwaukee’s Mitchell Field Friday night when the flight crew discovered a mechanical issue with the aircraft.  According to a news release from Southwest Airlines, shortly after flight 2095 departed Chicago’s Midway Airport  on a flight to Dallas, a cockpit instrument indicator came on.  In an abundance of caution, the flight crew decided to divert the flight to Milwaukee.   The indicator alerts the crew to the performance of the primary and redundant flaps controls of the airplane.

The airplane landed safely at Mitchell Field around 8 PM with 130 passengers and a crew of five.  The passengers and their baggage were transferred to another aircraft and continued on their journey.

The aircraft remained in Milwaukee and is being serviced by Southwest mechanics.
