WISCONSIN (CBS 58) -- Flags were flown at half-staff Thursday, Dec. 23, to honor a Volk Field security officer who recently died from Covid-19 complications.

Chad Christiansen was from Baraboo, Wisconsin.

He became sick with Covid while on duty and died on Saturday, Dec. 18.

“Chad was a valued member of our Department of Military Affairs team and his loss is felt not only by his colleagues at Volk Field, but throughout the agency and state,” said Gov. Evers. “Kathy and I are sending our thoughts and prayers to Chad’s family, the folks at Volk Field and the Department of Military Affairs, and all those who knew and loved him.”

A memorial service was held for Christiansen in Iowa earlier Thursday.

He was 49 years old.
