First Lady Jill Biden visits Milwaukee

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The First Lady, Dr. Jill Biden, made a stop in Milwaukee today, on Oct. 12, where she met with educators, students and parents.

The First Lady landed in Milwaukee at 4:00 p.m. and made her way to the Washington Park Senior Center.

She met and talked with the Milwaukee Teachers' Education Association and the National Education Association.

Jill Biden -- a former teacher herself -- says the union has two big supporters in the White House.

And she applauded the members for all the work they put into the union.

"Despite the obstacles in your way, Milwaukee is, and will always continue to be union strong," said Dr. Jill Biden.

This comes with midterm elections less than a month away. At 5:30, the First Lady visited “Homework Diner”.

At West Side Academy she met with educators, students and parents.

She also met with Democratic candidates, Mandela Barnes and Tony Evers.

This is one of four states she is visiting.
