MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The first part of an exhibit moved from the Milwaukee Public Museum to the future Nature and Culture Museum of Wisconsin.

Experts had to move a 20-foot-long canoe into the new building before builders finished putting glass in windows on the fourth floor.

They used a crane since it's 2,300 pounds.

The canoe is a replica of a canoe used by the indigenous Haida people of the Pacific Northwest

It's been on display at the museum for 30 years.

Now, it's being carefully stored in the new building while construction continues around it.

The new museum will open next spring.
