MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- It was a great day for hundreds of families and kids to get outside and get moving.
That's exactly what they were doing Saturday morning in the parking lots at Miller Park.
It was the first annual Heart and Sole 5K Run/Walk.
The event benefits the Pediatric Congenital Heart Association.
The organizer says it's a medical issue that is bigger than most people realize.
"Children with congenital heart disease is a very common cardiac defect that children have, 1 in 100 children actually have congenital heart disease and need treatment for it, so its a community issue, 25% of those children need open heart surgery," said Callie Schlitt, Organizer.
One of the children recently treated in Milwaukee for congenital heart disease is the young daughter of Brewers Third Baseman Travis Shaw.
