Fire Damages Home in Metcalf Park Area

A 2.5 story home in Milwaukee’s Metcalf Park area was damaged by a fire in the attic early this morning.  The Milwaukee Fire Department was called to the scene at N 33rd Street and W Garfield Avenue just after midnight.   They were able to locate the fire in the wood frame house and confine it to the attic.  The fire was extinguished in about an hour.  Damage to the home is considered minimal, but crews did cut a hole in the roof, and there is some water and smoke damage.   The three persons at the home will be displaced for several days and the American Red Cross was contacted for assistance.  While the cause of the fire is still being investigated, officials believe it may have been electrical in nature.
