Fiesta Selena postponed by rain, but celebration continues indoors with Paint and Sip

CBS 58

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) — Rain may have postponed Fiesta Selena this weekend, but it did not stop fans from celebrating the life and legacy of Selena Quintanilla.

Organizers pushed the outdoor festival back one week because of the weather, but a sold-out Paint and Sip event still went on indoors Sunday.

Now in its seventh year, Fiesta Selena brings together music, performances, contests, food and art centered around the late Tejano music icon.

"The weather today was not happy with us, so we postponed the festival for next weekend," said Francheska Gomez with Fiesta Selena. "It was a sold-out class we're still doing. We have Selena on the speaker and hopefully people are having a good time."

Organizers say the event is free and open to anyone who enjoys Selena, food, music and art.

Fiesta Selena is now scheduled for next Sunday, beginning at noon and continuing into the evening at Farmhouse Paint Bar and Hall on South Sixth Street in Milwaukee.
