WisDOT June 5 updates: Weekend closures to Mitchell Interchange
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin says our state is seeing a rise in food insecurity in children, and they're stepping up to help.
Monday, June 3, they kicked off their annual "Healthy Kids, Healthy Summer" campaign.
They've partnered with Meijer grocery stores and others to raise awareness about the issue.
Feeding America says without school breakfast and lunch programs over the summer, kids can go hungry and that's why they're asking for your help.
"If you're out there and you're with your own family, you're shopping through the stores just to pick up a couple extra things and you want to make that donation, we encourage you to donate it to Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin or to a food pantry nearby that can benefit from that food," said Patti Habeck, president and CEO of Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin.
Feeding America says a $63 donation provides enough meals to feed one child for the whole summer.
