Complaint: Man in custody after 'intentionally' hitting father with car
Waukesha County Circuit Court MENOMONEE FALLS, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A 23-year-old man accused of hitting his dad with a car is facing charges.
Lenzy Ward, 23, was arrested last night after going on the run.
Prosecutors say that on Saturday, June 13, around 7 p.m. officers arrived at Saint Thomas Drive in Menomonee Falls for a report of a hit-and-run crash.
Upon arrival, they found the victim of the hit-and-run and transported him immediately to a local hospital for treatment.
Officers learned from witnesses that three people got into an argument. Witnesses say that the victim was banging on the passenger side window of a blue sedan. The witness states that she saw the sedan drive east on Saint Thomas Drive, make a U-turn, and accelerate and strike the victim before driving away.
The suspect of the hit-and-run was identified as Lenzy Ward and the victim his father.
According to Ward's mother, Ward stayed over at their home the night before. She said that the argument began while Ward and his father was playing basketball across the street. She stated that she, Ward, his father and their 12-year-old son was walking back to the house with the argument continuing as Ward was preparing to leave.
Ward's girlfriend then arrived in the blue sedan, she got out and Ward climb into the driver's side. That's when the previously mentioned events occurred.
The victim sustained numerous injuries including extensive head trauma, facial damage, two broken legs and broken ribs.
Ward has been charged with the following:
- Attempted first-degree intentional homicide, use of a dangerous weapon.
- Hit-and-run causing great bodily harm.
- Operating a motor vehicle while revoked, causing great bodily hard to another.
- Reckless driving causing great bodily harm.
Ward was taken into custody Wednesday, June 17.
He's being held on a $750,000 bail.
Ward is expected back in court next month.
