MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin has launched its Food for the Holidays "Say nOPE to Hunger" campaign featuring a familiar face, comedian Charlie Berens, with the goal being to combat food insecurity in the area during the holidays. They encourage monetary and non-perishable food donations.
Aaron Rice with Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin joined us on Monday, Dec. 16 to discuss details.
According to Feeding America, more than 617,000 residents in Wisconsin face hunger, including one in 10 people in eastern Wisconsin. An anonymous donor has pledged a $25,000 matching gift through Dec. 31, doubling the impact of donations.
Contributions can be made online, at local Pick ‘n Save and Metro Market stores by rounding up purchases, or through food donations at marked bins in participating locations.
More information about how to participate is available by clicking here.
