MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A hometown non-profit hosted its 35th annual Father’s Day Celebration on Sunday, June 18.
‘Fathers for Progress’ celebrated Father’s Day at Sherman Park.
The event began at noon and lasted until 6 pm.
People who attended the event got the chance to talk with resource groups to help empower Black fathers.
“I’m hoping that a father can get some information about employment, I'm hoping somebody can find out some information about education,” said Andre Lee Ellis, a member of Fathers for Progress.
The event also had a DJ, Milwaukee first responders and food.
Lee Ellis went on to say, “The more we get to know each other in the community, the less problems we are going to have."
The celebration has been held at Sherman Park for the past 35 years, without incident.
