Family safely escapes early-morning house fire in Germantown

GERMANTOWN, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A family was able to safely escape a home fire in Germantown Monday morning, Oct. 12. 

Authorities were called to Revere Lane just after 5:30 a.m. Firefighters rescued two cats from the home. 

The cause remains under investigation, but officials say it appears the fire started on the deck or near foundation of the house. 

One firefighter suffered smoke inhalation and was treated at the scene and was back to work. 

The Germanton Fire Department was assisted by Menomonee falls, Richfield, Jackson, Mequon, slinger and Lisbon fire departments.
