Family displaced after fire breaks out at their Mount Pleasant home

MOUNT PLEASANT-- Firefighters responded to a blaze that broke out overnight at a home on Summerset Drive.


When firefighters arrived on the scene around 3:15 a.m. they found heavy fire and smoke coming from the back of the home.


Three people were home when the fire started, but they were able to get out of the house on their own.


One of those people did receive a minor injury was taken to hospital for treatment.


Firefighters were able to put the fire quickly, but the home did suffer fire and smoke damage.


The damage estimate is about $30,000. The home is currently unlivable.


The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
